A
Native of northern Wisconsin, John Potter grew up fostering a love for
the natural world among the verdant forests and sparkling lakes of the
great Northwoods. Since graduating from Utah State University with
degrees in illustration and painting in the
early 80s, Potter has
made his living as a full time artist. He was honored as the 2007 Artist
in Residence at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, and
honored once again there in 2008 as the winner of the Robert Kuhn Award.
Last year he won the
Legacy Award at the Northwest Rendezvous
Group’s Western Rendezvous of Art. He is a member of the Putney
Painters, the Society of Animal Artists, the Salmagundi Club, and a
Signature Member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters.
