Mike Maier

1953-2003

The year 2003 marked the passing of Mike Maier, an independent Western spirit who pursued his dreams in the high country.

Mike Maier and his wife Coletta spent more than a decade working with artists and a team of dedicated craftsmen to design and manufacture lightweight and durable paint boxes and accessories under the Open Box M brand.

"Mike Maier pursued his dreams with tenacity and integrity," says Sue Simpson Gallagher, a Cody gallery owner and member of the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale Committee. "The success of Open Box M and its products are proof of that. I considered him a dear friend and a true visionary."

The Mike Maier Memorial Award, featuring a $1,000 credit for an Open Box M pochade box, will be awarded by random drawing to an artist who attends at least one main event of the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale each year. For information about Open Box M, call 1-800-473-8098 or visit www.openboxm.com.
