Tours Visit Artist Studios

Cody, Wyo. – The Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale will offer two opportunities to visit the studios of leading Cody artists as part of its community-wide celebration of the arts Sept. 22-25.

The first tour on Thursday, Sept. 23, departs the Buffalo Bill Historical Center by trolley to visit the studios of Steve Schrepferman, Linda Raynolds, Mike Poulsen and Mel Fillerup. A second tour on Friday, Sept. 24, features Jeff Rudolph and Ty Barhaug, the Harry Jackson Museum and Caleco Foundry. Both tours will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

The cost of each tour is $15, and seating is limited to the first 40 registrants. For information call the Buffalo Bill Art Show, 587-5002.

Other activities during Cody’s arts celebration, the Rendezvous Royale, include a free lecture by Honored Artist Wilson Hurley 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the Historical Center. Following his lecture, Hurley will sign copies of the commemorative Rendezvous Royale poster featuring his painting “Lower Falls from Red Rock Point.”

Participating artists will demonstrate their skills at the Historical Center, Big Horn Galleries, Cody Country Art League, and Simpson Gallagher Gallery. The artist demonstrations will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23; and 10 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, Sept. 24.

‘Round Town Events include more than a dozen additional demonstrations, special exhibits and receptions Sept. 22-25 across Cody.

The Buffalo Bill Art Show, featuring 100 works by America’s leading Western artists, will remain open for free public viewing through Sept. 24 in the Historical Center’s Draper Museum of Natural History. Art Show Director Diane Ballard especially encourages teachers to bring students to see the exhibition.

The art show culminates with a live auction Sept. 24 and Quick Draw on Sept. 25. Anyone who has not yet registered to attend should do so as soon as possible by calling the art show office, 587-5002, or stopping by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce.

Now in its 23rd year, the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale is the centerpiece of the Rendezvous Royale, also featuring the Western Design Conference and the Historical Center’s black tie gala, the Patrons Ball.
