Cody Show Sept. 23-24

Cody, Wyo. – The 2005 Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale will feature more than 100 juried contemporary western artists Sept. 23-24 at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody – the eastern gateway to Yellowstone National Park.

The 24th annual show and sale will present approximately 200 oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculptures, and ceramic and mixed media pieces. The exhibition will be open Aug. 25-Sept. 23 in the Historical Center’s Photography Gallery. The main auction will be Friday, Sept. 23, with a quick draw and auction on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Plein air painter Melvin M. Fillerup is the 2005 Honored Artist. He’ll present a lecture about his life and influences and sign a commemorative poster featuring his recent oil, “Yellowstone Lilies.” For a list of participating artists, visit www.buffalobillartshow.com, and click on Artists.

The weekend includes special exhibits, studio tours, artist demonstrations and seminars in conjunction with the art show and the Western Design Conference – an exhibit of cutting-edge creations by 100 leading western furnishing and fashion designers. The art show, design conference, and Historical Center’s Patrons Ball comprise Cody’s four-day celebration of the arts, the Rendezvous Royale, Sept. 21-24.

Last year’s Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale generated $725,000 and attracted 800 guests. Proceeds benefit the Historical Center and Cody Country Chamber of Commerce.
