Award
History of Winners
The Gilly Fales Fine Art
Award is being offered in partnership with the Buffalo Bill Art
Show & Sale providing support and exposure to aspiring young
Wyoming artists.
Who Qualifies?
The scholarships are
available to Wyoming
artists ages 18-30 majoring
in art-related programs in college or participating in other types
of art-related ventures.
What Kind of
Work Qualifies?
The program accepts a broad range of original western art, including
landscape, wildlife/sporting, figurative, and Native American subject
matter. The submitted piece must be appropriately framed or prepared
for display.
How are the Awards Chosen?
An anonymous jury selects two $500 scholarship recipients, one in
two-dimensional and one in three-dimensonal work.
Opportunities for
Selected Recipients
Recipients have the opportunity
to display their work in the 2006 Buffalo Bill Art Show with over
100 of the best painters and sculptors in the West. Recipients are
invited to the prestigious Buffalo Bill Historical Centerto attend
and participate in events held surrounding this year’s 25th
Celebration in September.
Recipients’ work is viewed by show attendees
and collectors from across the United States and can choose to sell
their artwork while it is on display. If work is sold, a 10% commission
is given to the Gilly Fales Memorial Fund in order to continue empowering
young artists.
The show is on exhibit August 24 through September
22 in the John Bunker Sands Photography Gallery and is open to the
public during the Historical Center's normal hours.
